......Lt (Late) A K M Ahsanul Haq woke up by the sound of the first shot and came out running from his hut with his SMG. He started shouting orders to his men when he noticed an SMG flash at his right. Instantaneously he engaged it by firing from hip position but soon he was hit himself by bullets in his abdomen. His this action gave time to Number 12 Platoon to get on the ground safely.
With this fatal injury, this officer crawled up to Number 12 Platoon which had managed some cover from enemy fire but was still in utter confusion. Lt Ahsan called the acting Platoon Sergeant Naik (Corporal) Azimuddin and stated that he was hit by bullets and would be dying very soon but in no case troops should surrender. They should fight back till the last for the sake of the prestige of Bangladesh Army. Then he ordered Corporal Azim to promise by touching his body that they would fight back until death. Corporal Azim promised accordingly and rallied his platoon to put up resistance against the enemy....
Corporal Azim also embraced glorious death like an warrior keeping the promise he made to Lt Ahsan.
