Step 1- Pay the passport fees at Sonali Bank.Passport fee for ‘express delivery’ (delivered within 15days) is Tk.6000 and Tk.3000 for ‘regular delivery’ (delivered within 15days); if applying for renewal after expiration, Tk.300 need to be paid extra, in a separate deposit slip. In Dhaka, the list of Sonali Bank Branches authorized to collect passports fees are: Agargaon, Awalad Hossain Market, College gate, Mohammadpur, Dilkusha, B.B.Avenue, Segulbagicha, Malibagh, Moghbazar,Sadarghat, Mohakhali. Try to avoid ‘Agargaon’ Branch; I have found ‘Awalad Hossain Market’ branch (upstairs of Cooper’s, Bijoy Sarani) almost deserted.
Step 2- Apply online for MRP by clicking the link - http://www.passport.gov.bd/ Besides other relevant data you have to input National ID number or Birth ID number.
Step 3- After submitting the form you will receive an ‘Online Application Form’ in a pdf format. Print it out (if applying for the 1st time, print 2 copies and if applying for renewal/surrendered, print 1 copy).
Step 4- Paste your PP size photo as instructed in the form. Paste the deposit slip copy (using glue instead of stapler) to the top-right side of the 1st page of the form. Make sure that the slip can be turned over for barcode overleaf.
Step 5- Attest the form by an authorized person. If you can’t find anyone, you may attest through a ‘Notary Public’.
Step 6- Include the photocopy of ‘National ID’/ ‘Birth ID’, Nine (9) pages of the previous passport (if any) and other enclosures (if required) after attestation.
Step 7- Report to the Passport Office for providing biometric data along with a printed version of the Online Application form. At the Agargaon HO -- first go to the 8th floor through ‘Gate No 1’. After verification they will inform you where to go next for further verification and biometric data capture. For confirmation, where you have to report first, you may ask the ‘information center’ on 1st floor (through ‘Gate No 1’).
Step 8- After biometric data capture, they will provide you with a slip with delivery information. You may check the status of your application by logging in with the application ID and password (you will receive this through email after saving the data online).
Step 9- Be patient and you will receive the passport!
