Story with foodpanda today:
I've ordered food through them many times, no big issues. But one thing to notice, they charge 15% VAT on the total amount every time you order. And mind it, they don't give any govt yellow VAT chalan or machine printed receipt upon delivery. And also NOT ALL restaurants are subject to charge 15%, for example the tax for food carts is not 15% (as far I know).
I ordered burger from WOW Burger via Foodpanda. WOW burger being a food cart is not supposed to take 15% VAT (I may be wrong about the law). Well if they do, they will give a yellow chalan or a printed receipt.
When Foodpanda delivers food they produce nothing, other than a money receipt on their pad (it's not a govt VAT chalan, neither a cash-register printed paper).
Today I ordered. And right after that sent them an email and also called them up to declare that I will not pay VAT without proper receipt either from Foodpanda or from the restaurant and if they continue doing this I will file an objection to NBR. The delivery man came with my order from WOW Burger. As usual with no VAT receipt from WOW or from panda, but only that lame money receipt.
I made him call his office from my door. I took the phone and demanded my receipt from WOW if they have taken 15% VAT. Their reply was this: Sir, every other food delivery does this... wow burger didn't have the paper... bla bla blah. I simply said, submit the receipt for VAT and take the 15%. Other than that I am not paying you VAT.
Be warned and demand your VAT receipt. These people are stealing public money everyday in the name of VAT.
